Fresno Yosemite International Airport
Announces Holiday Concerts Series

Fresno, CA (December 10, 2022) Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) is happy to announce a new edition to this year’s Holiday Music Program. New this year to the airport music program are students with the Simba School of Music adding a series of performances. Mariachi favorite, Mariachi Tenochtitlan, will return with their high energy concerts to complete the musical offerings at the airport. The groups will offer music to delight and entertain travelers and visitors pre-security in the airport lobby. The musical lineup is part of the Airport’s Arts & Culture Program, a program created to enrich the traveler experience through contemporary art and musical performances.

“Our airport holiday concert series brings the sounds of the season and creates a festive environment for guests who are beginning their holiday travels,” said Director of Aviation Henry Thompson. “Welcoming a talented musical lineup to entertain our travelers will create a joyful experience along their holiday journey and travels through Fresno Yosemite International Airport.”

At the Simba School of Music, young students learn traditional violin skills and the Suzuki Method. Kamilah Simba, the owner and director of the school, created the group in 2015 after teaching years in the public school system. Since then, the young group quickly gained local traction as they were part of KVPR Valley Public Radio’s Young Spotlight, highlighting young talent from the San Joaquin Valley.

In addition to the Simba School of Music performances, Mariachi Tenochtitlan, a collective of mariachi musicians founded in Fresno in 1966 who’s committed to preserving traditions through Mexican folkloric music, will bring their high energy and play their favorite mariachi songs. Besides having a solid local presence, Mariachi Tenochtitlan has played in Las Vegas and at the International Mariachi and Charreria Festival in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

During the airport concerts, travelers and visitors can grab their favorite coffee or seasonal beverage, enjoy holiday decorations throughout the lobby area, and snap a few selfies with Gordo, holiday-themed selfie stations with friendly snowmen, cozy bears, and sparkling holiday trees.
