Fresno Yosemite International Airport to Conduct Full-Scale Emergency Exercise
Fresno, CA (May 10, 2018) Fresno Yosemite International Airport will conduct a simulated emergency exercise to test emergency response to an aircraft incident and coordination with local agencies on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires the airport to conduct a full-scale emergency exercise every three years. The exercise is a training opportunity for Fresno Yosemite International Airport and airline partners, Fresno Fire Department, medical response personnel and other mutual aid partners and volunteers.
WHAT: Fresno Yosemite International Airport will test emergency response to an aircraft incident. A large-scale, multi-agency response to an aircraft incident will be simulated on the airport’s airfield. Medical evacuation helicopters will land on the airfield to simulate the transport of volunteers made-up with realistic injuries to local hospitals.
WHEN: Wednesday, May 16, 2018
Exercise: 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
WHERE: Fresno Yosemite International Airport – Airfield
South of Dakota Avenue, east of Chestnut Avenue
NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC:
Normal airport and aircraft operations will continue during the exercise. There will be no public access to the exercise and messaging will be posted near the site to inform the public of the event in progress. Members of the public may notice smoke, numerous emergency vehicles and personnel, volunteers role-playing injuries and simulated radio communication of an emergency nature.
