Jeanette Goulart

Lives and works in Clovis, CA

“I heard an audible voice at a very young age say to me, you are going to be an artist, and my heart leapt.”

Jeanette Goulart’s work is lively and colorful. She works at both medium and large scale, in both acrylic paints and mixed media. Goulart’s work is about the pleasure of taking a brush and moving it across the canvas with joy. Largely self-taught, she has an instinctive sense for color, creating vibrant and complementary canvases that seem to glow from within.

Goulart has been painting since she was a child; when others might set up a lemonade stand, she would set up an art stall and sell her works to passersby on the street. Throughout her adult life she has maintained a space in her life to continue painting and exploring, using painting to explore her feelings and moods - she refers to this as her “artself.”

Though her work is abstract, Goulart often looks to nature to imbue her works for a sense of color and rhythm. Her playfully titled pieces make one think of city lights or the garden after a rain.
