Patrick W Rhames

Patrick W. Rhames

CA "Patrick W. (P. W.)* Rhames: October 18, 1946 (a good year ... )The
"P. W." is something left over from my career as a Peace Officer. It's how I
was trained to sign my reports, and over time, I have used it for all my
signatures, including my prints."

Mr. Rhames is a digital photographer who prints his own images using archival pigment inks on Fine Art archival paper. His photography includes portraiture, 'scapes, commercial imagery and weddings. The prints he displays in his exhibits are both monochrome and color. The subject matter varies significantly but all are what he classifies as "attracti-scapes": attractive scenes of places and things in our world that are both beautiful to the eye and stimulating to the mind. It is this intoxicating combination of sensory appeal that guides the direction of his photography and is its impetus. Truth be known, I'll photograph anything that I think is interesting, particularly if it has some artistic quality, even if that quality registers only with my eye.

Mr. Rhames was first introduced to serious photography as a "rookie" police officer with the City of Fresno Police Department, assigned to the Identification Bureau, photographing crime scenes. The assignment was brief, but he learned "the basics". Upon retirement, 40 years later, he gravitated to photography as a second career. He studied and completed the Commercial Photography Course with the New York Institute of Photography and has been a licensed photographer since 2010.

Patrick Rhames is an active member of Spectrum Art Gallery since 2014 and has served on Spectrum's Board of Directors since 2015.
