New Airport Public Safety Manager
Fresno, CA (December 16, 2022) – City of Fresno Director of Aviation Henry Thompson is pleased to announce that John R. Markle has been selected the Airports Department’s new Airport Public Safety Manager (PSM) effective December 19, 2022. John’s appointment as PSM comes after a nationwide search to fill the Airports Department’s lead airport public safety position for Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) and Fresno Chandler Executive Airport (FCH).
“John was selected amongst several applicants who expressed an interest in this all-important role managing security and safety in an airport environment,” said Director of Aviation Henry Thompson. “His management and leadership qualities, extensive law enforcement experience and diplomatic acumen placed him as the top candidate to lead the Airports Public Safety Division.”
John brings 34 years of dedicated law enforcement experience having served with public administrations in Madera and Fresno and is currently an active military member with the United States Navy. Prior to his appointment as PSM, John served with the City of Fresno Airports Department over the past year as Airport Public Safety Supervisor.
As PSM, John’s highest priorities will include providing law enforcement services and aviation security compliance for FAT and FCH. As the lead law enforcement representative for the Airports Department, he will ensure both airports remain open and operating safely and securely.
