Fresno Yosemite International Airport Offers Tips for the Busy Independence Day Travel Period
Fresno, CA – Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) is expecting busy travel days commencing now and through the upcoming Independence Day holiday period. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) estimates it will screen more than 33,000 departing passengers from FAT starting Tuesday, June 30 through Monday, July 6, 2026. During this 7-day period, Friday, July 3, Sunday, July 5, and Monday, July 6 are projected to be busiest travel days at FAT.
Passengers are strongly encouraged to arrive early at the airport, two hours or more prior to domestic flight departures and three hours or more prior to international flights. Busiest times at FAT’s security checkpoint are 4:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
During this Independence Day holiday travel period, FAT encourages travelers to prepare in advance with these tips:
Travel Tips for Independence Day Travel
Arrive Early
• Arrive at least two hours before domestic departures and three hours before international flights.
• Peak security checkpoint times are 4:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Prepare for TSA Screening
- All fireworks are forbidden on aircraft whether in carry-on, checked bags or cargo.
- Start with empty bags to avoid bringing prohibited items. Check TSA’s “What Can I Bring?” page at TSA.gov.
- Review TSA’s 3-1-1 liquids rule.
• Keep electronics and valuables in carry-on or personal bags.
• Travelers needing additional support may contact TSA Cares.
• Have your ID and boarding pass ready.
• Passengers 18+ must present a REAL ID-compliant license or another approved ID. Travelers without one may use TSA ConfirmID online for a $45 fee.
Monitor Your Flight
• Download your airline’s app for real-time updates on flight status, boarding times, gate changes, and other alerts.
• Contact your airline immediately if your flight is impacted.
• Keep all medications with you in the event of delays or carry-on gate checked baggage.
Plan for Parking and Ground Transportation
• Parking fills quickly during peak periods; have a backup lot in mind.
• Rideshare, FAX, V-Line, Rural Transit pickup and drop-off are located at the Departures curb center median.
• YARTS and taxi service are located across from Baggage Claim at the center median.
• A free Cell Phone Waiting Area is available near the terminal for passenger pickups. Drivers must remain with their vehicles.

• Keep valuables out of sight. Lock your vehicle and ensure all windows are closed.
