Fresno Yosemite International Airport Debuts Art at the Airport Fall Exhibition

Fresno, CA ( October 25, 2018) With the change of the season comes the unveiling of the “Fall Exhibition” of Art at the Airport presented by Fresno Yosemite International Airport.  The new exhibition features works of photography, printmaking, acrylic and watercolor paintings by artists from the region.

A new collaboration with the Spectrum Art Gallery and Art at the Airport will highlight photography in the gallery’s featured exhibition space.  The nonprofit cooperative will bring rotating exhibits of fine art photography from the Central Valley with the inaugural presentation showcasing photography by Jim Curnyn and a second gallery space featuring collections by other Spectrum members.

“The Art at the Airport program has been a great success by introducing travelers to the Central Valley’s finest artists and celebrating the diversity of talent in our region,” said Director of Aviation Kevin Meikle. “We are excited to partner with Spectrum Art Gallery on the fall exhibition and look forward to collaborating with their wide-cast of photographers on future showings.”

“The membership of Spectrum Art Gallery is grateful and excited for this opportunity to collaborate with the Fresno Yosemite Airport Art at the Airport program,” said Spectrum Art Gallery Curator Jesse Merrell.  “This is an amazing opportunity to fulfill our mission to promote photography as a fine art, and to bring local photographic artists work to the public passing through the terminal.”

Passengers traveling to and from the Valley have expressed great interest in the Art at the Airport series with several pieces purchased by travelers from across the U.S.

The Art at the Airport fall exhibition features distinctive artwork by:

  • The Spectrum Art Gallery’s Jim Curnyn whose work encompasses cityscapes, farm scenes, architecture, the railroad environment and Fresno historical landmarks.
  • Paintings of transparent images from nature reflecting metaphors of perception by Shannon Bickford.
  • Acrylic paintings of floral and colorful landscapes by Award winning artist Jessica Keller with works featured as far away as Australia and New Zealand.
  • Monique Wales, printmaking artwork inspired by nature, particularly by the magnificent mountain areas in and around Yosemite National Park.
