Fresno Airport Celebrates

Southwest Airlines One-Year Anniversary

Fresno, CA –   Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) is pleased to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Southwest Airlines serving Fresno. On April 25, 2021, the much-anticipated arrival of Southwest (with nonstop service initially between Fresno and both Las Vegas and Denver) provided instant access to destinations across the Southwest Airlines network. FAT’s addition to the Southwest map also opened a major transportation gateway for Central Valley residents looking to connect to more travel opportunities and brings visitors from around the country seeking easy access to nearby National Parks, and to several year-round activities in Fresno and our surrounding region.

“We were beyond thrilled when Southwest Airlines announced plans to serve Fresno bringing more airline options for Valley travelers and game-changing economic development opportunities to our region,” said Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer. “Southwest and its leadership team immediately embraced Fresno in focused efforts to become acquainted with our region and to align with its community-based culture.”

“Since their initial launch in April 2021, Southwest has brought strong passenger performance in the Fresno market and is a major contributor to Fresno Yosemite International Airport’s growth and recovery,” said Director of Aviation Henry Thompson. “We are excited to celebrate Southwest’s one-year anniversary and their success in our market. Southwest has been a great airline partner and we are pleased their service continues to bring more visitors to our region and connects business and leisure travelers to popular destinations.”

“From the moment we put flights on sale, Fresno became a strong and important market for Southwest,” said Adam Decaire, Southwest Airlines Vice President Network Planning. “We’re grateful to build on two decades as the largest carrier of California air travelers to, from, and within the state with our low fares and world-famous Hospitality and flexibility in Fresno.”

Partnerships with airlines, like that with Southwest, and solid community support will continue to benefit the region as the Airport works to add more flights and destinations.

Southwest currently operates three daily flights between Fresno and Las Vegas and one daily Denver flight.  Book Southwest Airlines online at Southwest.com or by phone at 800-I-FLY-SWA.
