Fresno Yosemite International Airport Art at the Airport Features an Impressive Cast of Central Valley Artists

FRESNO, CA (June 13, 2018) – “Faces of the Valley” have landed on the gallery walls of Fresno Yosemite International Airport with the opening of the new “Summer Exhibition.” The collection of art features work by nine distinguished artists. Large paintings, drawings and photographs are prominently displayed in different areas of the passenger terminal in celebration of the many cultures represented in Central California.

Featured artists include:

  • Marcos Dorado, Master of Realism, with a number of pencil drawings created with photographic accuracy. Marcos’ artwork is regularly exhibited in galleries in Los Angeles and New York.
  • Dixie Salazar, a true Valley icon of the arts, who is influenced by renowned artists like Frieda Kahlo and Matisse, is displaying paintings and watercolors that capture “Valley Faces” with her creative stylings that provoke mystery, discovery and questions.
  • The painting team of Karolynn Mata and her daughter, Alisynn Mata are well-represented in one of the airport’s galleries with work that showcases the rich colors and cultures they share representing their Latin and Native American ancestry.
  • Additional gallery areas show photographic art by Eddie Zamora, some of the journalism students of Fresno State Professor Jes Therkelsen and more.
  • There’s more paintings on exhibit by artists Amy Morgan, Nicole Jimenez, Saul Villegas and Marquita Rochelle.

Passengers traveling to and from the Valley have collectively shown great interest in the Art at the Airport series and a number of passengers from across the U.S. have made purchases. Much of the art is for sale and can be viewed via the online virtual tours found at: artattheairport.com

Artists represented in Art at the Airport’s summer exhibit seek to share a common message to others and that is to communicate dynamic storytelling expressed through their artwork.  The impressive collections of paintings, watercolors, photographs and drawings will be displayed throughout the summer for travelers to enjoy.

Artists interested in having their work considered for display at the Fall exhibit (September through December, 2018) should contact Marc Blake, curator and founder of the Central California Conservatory of Visual & Performing Arts at marc@cccvpa.com  or 559.251.5152.
