Fresno Yosemite International Airport Unveils Art at the Airport

Fresno, CA (December 4, 2017) – Travelers through Fresno Yosemite International Airport will now have the opportunity to view the region’s abundant artistic talents with the debut of Art at the Airport featuring the inaugural exhibit “This is Central California” showcasing some of Fresno and the Central Valley’s finest artists representing the cultural diversity of the area.

Artists from around the Valley were invited to submit artwork in theme with the airport’s inaugural installation. Selected pieces featured in the program’s debut include nearly 60 works of arts and various mediums including paintings, drawings and photographs. The exhibitions will rotate throughout the year, giving other Valley artists an opportunity to showcase their work at the airport.  Art at the Airport is the perfect venue to provide national and international exposure for the region’s talented artists.

The opening exhibit theme “This is Central California” celebrates the region’s natural beauty, culture and identity. Multiple displays located on the first and second floors near the airline boarding gates serve as permanent art galleries creating a serene environment for travelers to relax, refresh and reconnect surrounded by impressive artistic representations that celebrate the region.

“We are extremely proud of our community and celebrate our rich cultural diversity and the many artists who call this region home,” said Director of Aviation Kevin Meikle.  “For travelers visiting the area for the first time, the installations provide a stunning preview of Fresno and the surrounding communities.”

A total of four spaces are managed by a professional art curator with the Central California Conservatory of Visual & Performing Arts.  The professional installations incorporate specialty lighting and themed displays to authenticate a genuine gallery experience at the airport.  Relaxation and work areas will be incorporated to enhance the overall passenger experience.

Artists interested in submitting artwork for consideration to feature in future installations should contact Marc Blake, founder of the Central California Conservatory of Visual & Performing Arts at marc@cccvpa.com  or 559.251.5152.
