United Airlines to Return Nonstop Service Between Fresno Yosemite International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport in Spring 2019

Fresno, CA (November 13, 2018) United Airlines has announced plans to return seasonal daily nonstop air service between Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) beginning March 31, 2019 through the summer. The major route will return seasonal and seamless air access from California’s Central Valley to the Midwest with convenient connections to the East Coast and beyond.

United launched this seasonal route last summer, and because of the great response from Central Valley travelers, United will begin the 2019 schedule in advance of summer.  The airline will upgrade to mainline service using the Airbus A319 aircraft.  This upgrade replaces the service previously flown on regional jets, expands seat capacity and is a testament of the route’s strong performance in the Fresno market.

“The return of United’s service between Fresno and Chicago is a reflection of Central Valley travelers supporting the seasonal route and advocating for its return,” said Director of Aviation Kevin Meikle.  “Our region greatly contributed to the success of the Chicago service, and as a result, United will continue to invest in the Fresno market by bringing back this popular gateway between California and the Midwest.”

Ranked as the third largest city in the United States, Chicago serves as headquarters to a number of Fortune 500 companies and a variety of tourism attractions. This nonstop route across two-thirds of the country enables easier access to the Central Valley for visitors and easier connections to the upper Midwest, Great Lakes and east coast business centers and many international destinations.

Nonstop air service to highly sought destinations such as Chicago increases Fresno’s visibility as an attractive and progressive city with diverse service to major air transportation hubs.  United’s expanded investment in the Fresno market is anticipated to further enhance economic benefits for the Central Valley generated by air service activities.

United will operate its Chicago route using the Airbus A319 aircraft with a schedule ideal to accommodate a one-day business trip or a multiple days stay.
