Volaris Adds Nonstop Service to Morelia, Mexico

Fresno, CA (December 8, 2017) – Air access between Fresno Yosemite International Airport and Mexico is increasing this month as international carrier Volaris has announced the launch of nonstop year-round service between Fresno and Morelia, Mexico. The twice weekly new route is timely with the upcoming winter holiday travel season and expands a second gateway from the Central Valley to the Mexico region.

A popular destination sought by Central Valley travelers, Morelia complements Volaris’ existing daily nonstop air service between Fresno and Guadalajara, Mexico. During the busy holiday travel season, Volaris plans to increase its flight frequencies between Fresno and Guadalajara to two daily flights on selected days through December and into January 2018.  Coupled with the new Morelia route, the airline will frequently operate three daily international flights from Fresno Yosemite International Airport to Mexico.

Nonstop air service between Fresno Yosemite International Airport and Mexico continues to demonstrate strong demand and opportunities for growth. Fresno Yosemite International Airport is currently ranked fourth in the nation serving Mexico’s Guadalajara region. Locally the market to Guadalajara and surrounding region accounts for 13 percent of the airport’s annual passenger traffic.

“We are pleased with Volaris’ commitment to connecting Central California to the Guadalajara region of Mexico,” said Director of Aviation Kevin Meikle.  “This new flight represents 73 direct and indirect added jobs and $3.7 million in annual economic activity to our community.”

“At Volaris, our goal is to bring families and friends together. Our business model aims to accomplish this through a combination of better connectivity, clean base fares and an extensive route network. The new nonstop service from Morelia to Fresno expands the number of travel options for our Visiting Friends and Relatives (VFR) audience, as well as those who travel between the two cities for business and leisure,” said Volaris Director of Market Development Miguel Aguiñiga.

Volaris’ departure from Fresno Yosemite International Airport to Morelia, Mexico begins on Saturday, December 16 and will operate on Saturdays and Mondays.  Morelia reservations can be made at www.volaris.com or by calling 855.865.2747.
